Last Day at Salford

Yesterday was Charlotte and Catherine’s last day at Salford Mennonite Childcare Center. We were first introduced to the center long before we had children when Crystal’s father, Dan Graber, was the interim pastor at Salford Mennonite – the congregation that hosts the Childcare Center. It was our first choice when Charlotte started day care but at the time they didn’t have a part time slot open. Fortunately we got in a few years later with both Catherine and Charlotte.

It’s difficult to put into words what a blessing SMCCC has been for our family and how deeply we appreciated them. Even in times of turmoil with water pipes breaking and staff abruptly leaving, the administrators were reassuring, calm, and focused on the kids. We have loved so many of the teachers there who clearly have not only the skills but also the heart for this work. We believe that the lessons the girls learned there helped prepare them for the massive transition ahead.

Indeed. We will miss them but they gave us a wonderful send off. Fingers crossed there’s a good chance that one of the teachers will visit in a couple years (she’s been wanting to visit Phnom Penh but we offered to host if she does).

May they live long and prosper. Early childhood education is so important for the child.

Thank you! Early childhood education is critical. We did look into the local Montessori schools but while the method is highly rated the local schools were not.
